Altimeter for Parts or Repair, Type C-14A, 35,000 ft, US Navy WWII 1556-2K-A P-80Here is a WWII era Sensitive Altimeter for Parts or Repair, Type C 14 (also AN 5761 1), made by Bendix, part number 1556 2K A as made for aircraft of the US Navy. The C 14 Altimeter was used across a wide number of aircraft of the US Navy and US Army Air Corps, including heavy bombers B 17 and B 24, medium bombers, B 25 and B 26, Fighters P 38, P 39, P 40, P 47, and P 51, and transports C 46 and C 47. BU AERO US NAVY is embossed on its face. The C 14A

25 inches diameter and ~1 inch deep

Aircraft which used this tachometer included the US Navy fighters F4U-5 Corsair (per its Parts Manual April 1951) and F8F Bearcat (per its Erection and Maintenance Manual March 1948)

likely made for an Air Force order during 1945

The artifact is in exceptional condition given its age

it was removed very carefully as there is no apparent damage whatsoever to the glass or the frame

The glass is clear and the case is intact
