The designs labeled FSL (Freestanding Lace) can be stitched as standalone pieces, while the others require fabric backing. There are designs for the 4x4 and 5x7 inch hoops. These designs can be used in a variety of projects. You can use the freestanding lace designs ad gift decorations, charms or stitch them onto fabric for various projects such as placemats, bags, hats,
