The Story This was the painting where I first felt myself arrive. Everything before it was preparation doing what I was taught, painting what I thought I should. This one came through differently. The colours were too loud, the sky was wrong, and the figure was me sitting in a place I had not found yet. I painted it before I understood what was starting. Looking back,

I just had to stop performing long enough to notice
